Snow and ice fortress complete with a window

2026-02-02 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by April Yurcevic Shepperd.
A play place was discovered by April Shepperd over the weekend in the Save-a-Lot parking lot on the corner on Burkesville and Guardian Streets in downtown Columbia. Neighborhood engineers created a fortress, complete with a window/skylight, from the huge pile of icy snow that had been pushed away so shoppers could get into the parking lot. Looking inside, you can also see the concrete wall art done by Vonnie Kolbenschlag a few years ago.

If anyone can share the names and/or pictures of the building in progress, Columbia Magazine would happily add them here with April's story. Thanks to all for the smiles!
