KY General Fund and Road Fund receipts for Dec 2025 Frankfort, KY - State Budget Director John Hicks reported on Monday, January 12, 2026, that December's General Fund receipts totaled $1,525.4 million, a 3.4 percent decrease in collections compared to December 2024 totals. The official revenue forecast calls for General Fund revenues to decline by 1.3 percent in FY26. Based on year-to-date collections, revenues can fall 1.9 percent over the final six months of the fiscal year and meet the estimate. Regarding December General Fund revenues, Hicks noted that "Receipts were $53.4 million less than what was collected in December 2024 due to a $60.7 million decline in the major business taxes and the timing of receipts from the public service component of the state property taxes, which are expected to be received in January. December receipts had increases in the largest two accounts, individual income and sales and use taxes. Individual income receipts grew 4.2 percent, including a 6.1 percent growth in withholding taxes. Sales and use tax collections rose by 2.5 percent. Both wages and spending grew for the month and have anchored General Fund collections through the first half of FY26." Ryan Hoots: UK Mens Basketball showing up By Ryan Hoots, Sports Writer and Director of Sports Media for Untdwestd.com (LEXINGTON) - So. Kentucky finally showed up to play like a team that actually wants to be good. You know that feeling when your car almost stalls at a stop sign, then suddenly rockets past everyone on the highway? That was Saturday night in Rupp. After looking like they left their skill in the locker room for the first five minutes, UK uncorked a performance that made Mississippi States six-game win streak feel like it was an aberration. Lets set the scene: the Bulldogs jump out early, because, of course they dowith a 12-point lead that probably had some folks wondering if the Cats were playing without a heart (the boo birds ringing from the Rafters of Rupp would agree). But then the Wildcats decided it wasnt going to be that kind of night, they changed the tone completely. Basketball: Lady Indians head to Larue Co. By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer The Adair County Lady Indians travel to Hodgenville to face the LaRue County Lady Hawks (4-10) on the road tonight. The Lady Indians come in as winners of three straight, most recently a 51-40 home win over the Casey County Lady Rebels. Meanwhile, the Lady Hawks come into this one having lost five straight, most recently a 51-29 road loss to Marion County. Marion County is the lone mutual opponent for the two teams. The Lady Indians defeated Marion County 46-29 on the road back in mid-December. Tonight's game is the embarkation of a three-game road trip journey for the Lady Indians. After their trip to face the Lady Hawks, they travel to Tompkinsville to face Monroe County as part of a girl-boy double-header on Tuesday, before heading to Monticello on Monday, January 19, 2026, to face Wayne County. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has released a new edition of the Lindsey Wilson license plate, which features the university's new logo and four words from its mission statement, "every student, every day." The initial cost of the license plate is $44 and the renewal cost is $31; $10 from each plate goes to the Lindsey Wilson general scholarship fund. The license plate can also be personalized with up to six characters for an additional $25 annual fee. "This is such a great way for Lindsey Wilson's alumni and friends in Kentucky to show their Blue Raider pride wherever they go," said Director of Alumni Relations Allison Cross '09. "Not only do you get to spread the Lindsey Wilson message throughout the commonwealth and beyond, but you also help Lindsey Wilson students by supporting scholarships." Lindsey Wilson unveiled a new seal and logo on July 1, 2025, to celebrate the school's transition from college to university. Basketball: Indians advance to 2A State Championship play By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Saturday, January 10, 2026, the Adair County Indians defeated the Taylor County Cardinals 63-60 in the 2A Section 4 Final in Lebanon. The game was razor-thin throughout, with a one point gap at the half in favor of the Tribe, 30-29. The game stayed just as close, with the Indians leading 46-44, at the end of the third quarter. The Indians once again outlasted Taylor County down the stretch, and secure a one-possession win. Dawson Gilbert lead the scoring for Adair County, with 19, followed by Tylin George with 18, and Landon Blakey with 11. Blakey lead the team in rebounds, with an impressive 14 boards, followed by John Shehan with 10 and Tylin George with eight. The team shot 39% from the floor and 32% from three point range. A good team needs to be able to win not only when they are playing well, not only when their shots are falling, not only when they can gather rhythm, but a good team needs to be able to win when they are in a rock fight of a game. The Indians were able to edge out a win while shooting a dreadful 39% from the floor, the worst they have shot in any game this season, and that kind of toughness and grit is something that the Tribe will need if they want to win tough games down the stretch and in the postseason. Adair County moves on to the H&W Dukes Kentucky 2A State Championship, where they will face Bell County (12-2) in the first round. Tip-off is scheduled for 5pmCT on Friday, January, 16, 2026, in Owensboro. Prior to the trip to Owensboro, the Indians will have to travel to Tompkinsville to face the Monroe County Hawks (9-4). The Hawks have become an annual opponent for Adair County as they have faced off in each of the last six seasons, and twice in the 2020/2021 season. The battle between the Indians and Hawks will get underway following a battle between the Lady Indians and the Lady Hawks, which is set to begin at 6pmCT on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Cheatham believes national budget can be fixed Retired Taylor County educator Frank Cheatham shared the following thoughts recently about America's budget problems and one expert's opinion on how to fix them. "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," Warren Buffett told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months and 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971... before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land... all because of public pressure.
