Chaos or Negligence, You Decide By Ryan Hoots Sports Director, UntdWeStnd.com Lexington, KY - There's something broken in college sports right now, and everybody from athletes to reporters to fans can feel it...even if they don't want to say it out loud. The wild part? The blueprint for how to do this the right way has existed forever. It's called professional sports. Take literally any major league. The NFL, the NBA, MLB...does not matter. Every single one of them runs on structure. There's a draft. There are contracts. There are expectations tied to those contracts. Perform, you get paid again. Don't, somebody else takes your spot. Simple enough. It's not perfect, but it's organized chaos. What we've got in college right now is just chaos. Carol Perkins: Swimmy Head Previous Column: Looking forward to Easter Week By Carol Perkins "My head's swimmin'," I complained to Guy. He looked puzzled, like I had a medical explanation to share. I could have given the reader some context clues, like "when I put my head over to pull out some weeds," but I wanted to see who might or might not know what a swimmy head is. Old-time expressions are hard to replace. Today, a swimmy head might be called "vertigo." That's far too medical. Plus, that was a movie in my day. A scary one. A swimmy head might go along with a "stove up" knee or neck. When I can't straighten it when I first get up, it's "stove up." Like a stovepipe. That goes along with the knee being "swoll up" or my head being "stopped up." Had a gripey stomach lately? Gordon joined classmates, family and friends on campus for the annual Golden Alumni Society Luncheon, where members of the Class of 1976 were honored for reaching their 50th reunion milestone. Movie: watch it and then prepare to vote By Linda Waggener Thinking about the 2026 elections, one thing most voters seem to share--regardless of party--is a quiet, persistent concern: how divided the country feels, and whether individual voices still matter in all the noise. That's what makes revisiting the movie, Swing Vote, feel less like entertainment and more like a mirror. In the film, Kevin Costner plays Bud Johnson, an ordinary, disengaged voter who suddenly finds himself holding the deciding vote in a presidential election. What unfolds is both comedic and uncomfortable: candidates reshape their policies overnight, not out of conviction, but out of calculation--saying whatever they think will win him over.
