Change in Kentucky Vehicle Inspections process

By Sheriff Gary Roy
Adair County Sheriff's Office

The State of Kentucky is mandating that all vehicle inspections are to be submitted electronically, so starting June 1, 2026, we will no longer be able to do vehicle inspections on the paper VTR's, we will have to submit them directly to the Adair County Clerk's Office.

The inspection process will not change, nor will the fees associated with inspections. So please be patient as we navigate our way through the IPADs as we do these inspections for you. Thank You.

Travel: Red Cliffs National Conservation Area (1 of 3)

2026-05-28 - St. George, UT - Photo by Robert Ellis, robertelliswoodworking.com.
Robert writes, "This Conservation Area has over 120 miles of hiking trails and this one, which is the most popular, is called Red Reef Trail. It is visited by over 100,000 hikers every year.

This was a fill-in destination, if we had time, and we were glad we did. It's an easy hike of around 1.5 miles, round trip. Usually the hike ends at a waterfall, but during our visit it wasn't flowing, and only some pools of water remained. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful place and a very enjoyable hike."

Interns will be assisting KDA employees and Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell help residents across the state with agricultural needs.

"The best way to really learn about a career is to work side-by-side with the employees doing the job each and every day," Commissioner Shell said. "This is exactly what KDA's internship program offers college students. Interns gain a unique learning experience that could launch a lifelong career in a variety of ag-related fields. It's a great stepping stone and that we are excited to provide."

Guy knew what I was thinking. "Aren't you going to tell me I don't need these?" he said.

My reply was (and is), "You're a grown man."

From Naitore Djigbenou/Allen Blair

Frankfort, KY - Team Kentucky is reminding Kentuckians to plan ahead, as all Driver Licensing Regional Offices will be closed on Thursday, June 4, and Friday, June 5, 2026, as the commonwealth launches a new and improved driver licensing system that will enhance the customer experience and expand online options. Offices will reopen Monday, June 8, 2026. Customers with licenses or IDs expiring in June are encouraged to visit an office early.

The new driver licensing system replaces Kentucky's nearly 40-year-old platform and is part of continued efforts to modernize state services and improve the customer experience. The upgraded system will launch alongside myDrive, a new online driver services portal that allows Kentuckians to pre-apply for a license, permit or ID, request a card replacement, check their current license standing, and more.
