Tammy Jo Blaydes, 62, Green County, KY native Tammy Jo Blaydes, age 62, moved on to heaven on April 24, 2024 following a truly courageous fight with metastatic breast cancer. Tammy grew up in a loving home in the Little Barren Community where she enjoyed spending time with her family and capturing the history and stories of Little Barren. Tammy was a proud and faithful member of Little Barren Separate Baptist Church. She graduated from Green County High School in 1979 and was a member of the Dragon Marching Band playing the trumpet and clarinet. Tammy was always proud to sport her "vintage" GCHS letter jacket while supporting her nieces at Green County sporting events and she would say to all, "Yes, it still fits." Tammy graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Business in 1983. She began her career in her hometown working for the Greensburg Record Herald capturing local news and ended her career 41 years later at HighNote in Louisville. The latter of which she worked 27 years as the Customer Service Representative never missing a day of work. Tammy's life traversed a multitude of locations beginning with the beautiful, small-town Edmonton, the hustle and bustle of Dallas, the Windy City- Chicago, and the Derby City Louisville; however, always calling the ever charming and historical Greensburg her home. Tammy spent a life embodying peace and love, flaunting tie-dye and posing with peace signs. Peace and love meant more to Tammy than a fun look- it meant service and giving back. Tammy took great pride in donating time, money and her platelets in memory of loved ones lost or affected by cancer. Tammy's hobbies and passion are displayed in her home- much like a funky folk museum- in the form of varying photographs, an immense collection of cameras, eclectic and quirky art, an extensive genre of music, intricate heirloom quilts, rare and special antiques, and collections of river glass. Tammy spent her life documenting her observations and experiences of the world, her memories and moments, with her 35 mm Canon AE-1 gifted to her by her loving stepfather "Bill." Tammy leaves behind a lifetime of memories in the moments she captured; never leaving a gap in time and leaving treasures and gifts- a timeline- to last us a lifetime. Family and friends were the cornerstone of Tammy's life. Tammy loved her family and would make a point to tell them that she loved and appreciated them as often as possible. Tammy held many roles; however, the role she most cherished was her role as an aunt. To her nephews Ross and Reagan, she was Aunt Tammy and to Anna, Dayni and River Coffey she held the endearing title- T.T. given to her by Anna when she could not pronounce Aunt Tammy. Tammy is survived by her mother, Wanda Coffey who raised her with unconditional faith, love, and support; older sister, Pamela (Clay) Jones, younger brother, Brian (Joy) Coffey. The love and memories Tammy left will hold special places in their hearts. Her nephews, Ross Jones and Reagan Jones and the Coffey Kids: Anna Coffey, Dayni Coffey and River Coffey. Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Charles Blaydes and her stepfather: Willard Coffey. Rest in peace and love, dear Tammy, our TT. Your light continues to shine brightly, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing you. Your legacy lives on in the countless lives you touched with your love. The funeral services for Tammy Jo Blaydes will be conducted on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 3pmCT at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Little Barren Cemetery. The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to American Red Cross of the Twisted Pink Organization which can be made at the funeral home.
