Six from MCHS selected Governor’s Scholars By Torrie Osbon, Communications Director Metcalfe County High School is pleased to announce six students have been selected for the 2024 Governor's Scholars Program. The Governor's Scholars Program (GSP) is a summer residential program for rising seniors who have demonstrated outstanding high school careers. Selected scholars will network with other exceptional students across the state to strengthen their leadership capabilities while developing critical thinking, adaptability, and creativity. The following Metcalfe County High School students were selected for the program as scholars or alternates: Shiloh Keller, Kassady London, Alyssa Williams, Mary Coomer (alternate), Kyndal DeWeese (alternate), Claire Shapiro (alternate). This is the second time in four years that six students from Metcalfe County have been selected as scholars or alternates. "We are so proud of these students and their commitment to academic excellence," MCHS Principal Joseph Eaton said. "Having six representatives from Metcalfe County High School is a great testament to these students and our staff. The amount of time and effort they put into their academic endeavors and this application process is admirable and truly proof of their Hornet Hustle!" Centre College, Morehead State University, and Murray State University will host the five-week program this summer. There is no fee for the program, which is supported financially by the Office of the Governor, the Kentucky State Legislature, and private donors. This story was posted on 2024-04-27 10:34:42
