Jimmy Kent Bowmer, 85, Jamestown, KY (1938-2024)

Jimmy Kent Bowmer, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. He was 85 years of age.

Born on August 26, 1938, in Russell Springs, he was the son of the late Julian Meredith and Opal Lee Combest Bowmer. Jimmy Kent lived his life as an independent man, being a truck driver for over 30 years. Jimmy Kent was an avid UK sports fan.


Survivors include his sons, Billy (and Jana) Bowmer of Jamestown, and Barry (and Karen) Bowmer, of Lexington; five grandchildren, John Michael (and Sabrina) Bowmer, Christopher (and Sally) Bowmer, Cody (and Kayleigh) Lawson, Brian (and Alex) Lawson, and Lauren Wallace; and seven great-grandchildren, with one on-the-way.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy Kent was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Bowmer; and his sister, Betty Lou Branscum.

Funeral services are 1pmCT Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Russell Springs City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11am until time of services on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy be made to God's Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1503, Russell Springs, KY 42642. For information or questions regarding donations, please call Gods' Food Pantry at 270-866-7992.
