Recycling is working as citizens requested "Bring it and we'll work with you," says Adair Recycling Center Director John Salamonski. "We've been open over a year now and the center is cleaned and functioning as citizens requested. We're open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7am-3pmCT. When the center is closed, he says it is acceptable to leave recyclable items under the roofed open area. Mixed trash is not welcome anytime - none is to be left when it's closed, nor brought there during open hours. Security cameras are in use and they will prosecute if abuse forces them to. Electronic items may be taken and they will hold it until time for it to be picked up. Walmart recycles their own bags, so plastic bags are not accepted. "Cardboard boxes are welcome, they do not have to be broken down and flat as some folks come looking for boxes and," he says, "we use them also." It's appreciated if plastic bottles and jars are rinsed out before dropping off - he says especially in summer the stink from milk products left out can take your breath away. For more information on the center at 62 Service Road, Columbia, call 270-384-4703. This story was posted on 2024-01-12 00:51:08
