Start small in order to save for emergencies With higher costs for most basics, it might be hard to imagine how you can save money for an emergency fund. Indeed, 27 percent of all U.S. adults have no emergency savings at all, according to a Bankrate 2024 report. About 29 percent could not cover three months of expenses with their savings. Financial experts recommend savings that could take care of six months of expenses to cover things like health emergencies, car repairs, or job loss. While six months of savings may seem like a dream, even a small amount of savings can keep you from going into credit card debt at double-digit interest rates, the kind of debt that is very difficult to escape. She was born in Glasgow on Wednesday, July 22, 1953, the daughter of Guy B. and Autna E. (Janes) Wilson. She was of the Christian Faith, and worked as a secretary for Adair county Board of Education. Joe Harding Wise, 95, Green County, KY Joe Harding Wise of Green County, Kentucky, son of the late Delmer Wise and Edna Colvin Wise, was born on Saturday, April 26, 1930 in Taylor County and departed this life on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Hospice Health Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. He was 95 years, 2 months, and 6 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Taylors Chapel Church. He retired from General Electric. Road Department receives new Peterbilt truck From Bridget Compton Adair County Deputy Judge Executive, Road Administrative Assistant & Solid Waste Coordinator On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Adair County Judge Executive Larry Russell Bryant and Adair County Road Foreman Barry Hamlett were on hand for the delivery of the new Peterbilt truck delivered from Adair County's own Martin's Peterbilt. They were joined by Darin Sizemore, General Manager of Martin's Peterbilt in Adair County and Keith Begley, from Martin's Peterbilt's Lexington office. When Martin's Peterbilt chose to locate in Adair County, they started with just 8 employees -- and have since grown to nearly 30! We're excited to see the growth and success they've achieved in such a short time. Paint the Town spots going fast From Trey Stephens The City of Columbia is preparing to host our annual Paint the Town event on the Public Square in downtown Columbia from 4pmCT to 8pmCT on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Several vendors and food trucks will be in attendance, including Luxe Lemon, Cindy's Diner, and Down Home Eats and Sweets. If you or your organization would like a spot, please call City Hall at 270-384-2501 soon, as they fill up very quickly. Fishing Creek Campground at Lake Cumberland Reopens By Lisa Clark, 92.7 The Wave SOMERSET, KY - Fishing Creek Campground at Lake Cumberland has reopened and is now available for first-come, first-served camping through the remainder of the 2025 recreation season. Maintenance crews replaced more than 400 feet of water line, digging through solid rock to remove the aging, 30-year-old pipe and install new line with additional shut-off valves to improve future service.
