Janice Holt Giles mentioned at 2025 Writers Day The Adair Arts Council Writers Day took place on Saturday, with strong attendance from both authors and readers. Darlene Campbell, the event organizer, gave generous support and encouragement to every presenter. She also emphasized the significance of Janice Holt Giles, a renowned author from Adair County. She was born in Arkansas in 1905 and later moved to Indian Territory, Oklahoma, where her father worked as a teacher. She became an accomplished and well-educated woman, moving to Louisville after her first marriage ended, working for the Dean of the Presbyterian Seminary. In 1943, during a bus trip, Janice met Adair County soldier Henry Giles. They corresponded during his deployment and married immediately upon his return in 1945.
