Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month Adair County Judge Executive Larry Russell Bryant signed a proclamation dedicating April as sexual assault awareness and prevention month. WHEREAS, Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month is intended to draw attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread and impacts every community member of the Commonwealth of Kentucky; and WHEREAS, sexual violence is a continuum of intolerable and violent crimes with public health implications for every person in our community as a victim/survivor or as a family member, significant other, neighbor, or co-worker of a victim/survivor; and WHEREAS, 45.8% of Kentucky women and 30.2% of Kentucky men have experienced contact sexual violence; and young people in Kentucky are at particular risk, with 14% of high school students reporting dating violence; and Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2025-04-09 22:57:37 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local Government

Admission is just $5 per person to enter, or $20 for vehicles with 4 or more. Kick off the spring season at Homeplace on Green River this weekend! Our Spring Plow Day Festival has something for everyone and children of all ages. Adair Co. Grand Jury April 3 indictments On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the Adair County Circuit Court Grand Jury met and handed down indictments against 9 individuals from Columbia, Campbellsville, and Monticello, KY, and Vergennes, IL. Charges included DUI, possession, public intoxication, flight, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, littering, speeding, disorderly conduct, careless driving, assault, strangulation, trafficking, and hunting while under the influence. NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. Scholarship deadline approaching Applications for the Adair County Cattlemen's Association and Wayne Hatcher Memorial Scholarship are due by April 15, 2025. Because of kind donations and sponsorships, the Adair County Cattlemen's Association will be awarding two scholarships for $1,000 each this year. Applications can be picked up at the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY, or at the Adair County High School Guidance Counselor's Office. Only seniors of the Adair County School System are eligible to apply. The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team also delivered a 7-0 sweep of Bethel on Tuesday afternoon, closing out its regular-season home slate in dominant fashion on Senior Day. Fields of Faith on Wednesday features Jake Camarda From Mark Fudge The Southcentral Kentucky Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be hosting Fields of Faith starting at 5pmCT on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. The event has been moved to the arena at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY, due to the cool and wet weather. Activities will begin with food and games from 5pmCT until 6:30pmCT, with the program starting at 6:30pmCT. Buffalo Bills punter Jake Camarda is the guest speaker and will be sharing his testimony. Jake is the 2021 NFL special teams player of the year. Camarda played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs and was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2020. In September 2023, he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month. In 2022, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Camarda in the fourth round of the NFL draft. Worship and praise music will be presented by the Lindsey Wilson Ministry Mosaic. Several college and high school students will be sharing individual testimonies. Everyone in the community is encouraged to attend.
