It is time to start preparing for the next mixer on July 26th. Thanks to Amy Mitchum at The Barn at Cedar Grove, the Mixer will be hosted there again this year following the Columbia Adair County Chamber of Commerce awards banquet and dinner. Melvin Johnson, 82, Adair County, KY Melvin Johnson of Knifley, son of the late Robert Johnson and Lela Allen Johnson, was born September 13, 1942 in Casey County, Kentucky. Basketball: A season for the history books By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer The Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team fell 52-51 to Bowling Green in the first round of the KHSAA UK HealthCare Boys' Sweet 16 Tournament in Rupp Arena on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The Indians fought hard. After trailing most of the game, they took their first lead of the second half with a minute left in regulation, forcing the Purples into overtime. The game remained tight in overtime, until a late bucket by 4th Region preseason Player of the Year Deuce Bailey would win it for the Purples by just one point. Boil Water Advisory issued Update: Boil Water Advisory lifted From Columbia/Adair Utilities District Date Issued 3/26/2025, Time Issued 1:00 P.M. A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for all consumers on 591-2314 Bull Run Road, Dwight Curry Road, and Bovine Lane. The advisory has been issued due to tying into a line. Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using. This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. Both teams continue to show a lot of fight. Cochran continues to lead the Indians scoring with 14 followed by Coomer and Loy with 13 and 12 respectively. Fourth quarter media timeout: Bowling Green leads Adair County 40-36 with 2:58 left in the game. A small offensive run for the Indians has been massive to close the gap to just four points.
