Byron Kirkland-Lundy signs with Lindsey Wilson By Osbon, Torrie Congratulations to MCHS senior Byron Kirkland-Lundy for signing a letter of intent to continue his education and football career at Lindsey Wilson College! Byron finished his career with 2,010 rushing yards with 29 touchdowns. He broke the single game state touchdown record last season, scoring ten TDs in a 70-44 win over Clinton County. He was also third in the state for the most rushing yards in a game with 491. And, he set three school records while at Metcalfe County. Byron is the 12th Hornet in Coach LJ Harbison's career to sign to play football at the next level. We are proud of Byron's achievements on and off the field and wish him the best of luck at LWC! Bootsie Foley, 74, Casey County, KY Bernetha "Bootsie" Foley, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center. She was 74. Born on March 14, 1951, in Liberty, KY, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Freeman and Ora Ellen Scott Monday. Bernetha was a former Office Manager for the Casey County Fiscal Court. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bernetha enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and gardening. Reminder: Everyone is welcome at ACGS Saturday Session The Adair County Genealogical Society and the Adair Genealogy & History Research Center will present the first Saturday Session of the new year at NoonCT on March 22, 2025. The class will be presented by Mike Watson, and will address research strategies for locating illegitimate births in the historic record without using DNA. This session is geared to both the new researcher as well as the seasoned one. No materials are needed other than something on which to make notes--laptop, notebook, etc., and a writing implement. Benningfield and Engle graduate KSP Telecom Academy From Sherry Bray Frankfort, KY - On Friday, March 21, 2025, Gov. Andy Beshear and the Kentucky State Police (KSP) announced the graduation of 17 telecommunicators from the KSP Telecommunications Academy. These individuals have been assigned to 10 posts across the state, where they will answer the call of service by providing critical communication support to Kentuckians and law enforcement agencies. Local graduates include Kendall Benningfield and Ryan Engle, both with KSP Post 15 in Columbia. "Today, you embark on a commendable journey of public service, one that will provide light in the darkness to so many Kentuckians in their times of greatest need," Gov. Beshear said. "Thank you for being committed to creating a new Kentucky home with safer communities and helping ensure our officers have the information they need to respond to emergencies." KSP telecommunicators are responsible for dispatching state troopers, commercial vehicle enforcement officers, conservation officers and other emergency service agencies. Last year alone, they answered over 1.2 million calls, leading to more than 406,000 requests for assistance. Marietta Moody Moyers, 95, Taylor County, KY Marietta Moody Moyers of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Sherman Ulysses Moody and Margaret Williams Moody, was born March 8, 1930 in Bell County, Kentucky. She died at 10:15 A.M., Wednesday, March 19, 2025 in Campbellsville at age 95. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. Marietta was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. She had a servant’s heart and had spent years donating her time to the local Food Pantry. Buddy Long, 87, Casey County, KY Buddy Long, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Liberty. He was 87. Born on March 3, 1938, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Steve Blevins and Mary Lou Taylor Long. Buddy proudly served his country for twenty years in the United States Air Force as a Boom Operator. He loved to fly. Buddy attended Campbellsville College and later went on to do numerous things such as: substitute teaching, driving a bus, managing the Ambulance Service, working for the Department of Corrections, truck driving, and loved being a foster parent. Many know that if they need transportation to appointments, medical care or even to go to the grocery store they can call Ms. Vanessa and she will get you there. And if she can't take you at that time she will call around to get you where you need to go. On top of transporting members of her community, Vanessa has fed so man. When she cooks to feed her family she seems to find a way to provide plates for others.
