Easton Jessie shares deep gratitude at signing

Gardner-Webb University signed Adair County High School senior Easton Jessie to play football. He shares the notes from his thank-you talk at the celebration.

By Easton Jessie

First and foremost I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you to my family for all of the support throughout this process. I am so thankful for all of the car rides to different colleges to help me reach this goal. Thank you to my brothers for always pushing me and turning me into the competitor I am today. I would not be in this position if it wasn’t for my family.

Thank you to all of my coaches from Glasgow little league all the way to the staff at Adair County High school. I’m so blessed to have been coached by you all.

Local Wildlife Management Areas included in the plan are:
  • Adair - R.F. Tarter
  • Russell/Wayne/Clinton - Lake Cumberland

LWC: Schmidt inducted into CPA-Ky Hall of Fame

From Duane Bonifer

Chris Schmidt came to Lindsey Wilson College in 1995 because he thought an entry-level job in student affairs would prove to be a stepping stone toward becoming a college basketball coach.

Instead, the job led to becoming coach of what Schmidt calls "the biggest basketball team in the history of the game."

Schmidt was named the college's dean of students in 2001, which makes him the longest-serving dean of students in the history of Lindsey Wilson. He's also the longest-serving current dean of students among Kentucky's 18 independent colleges and universities, as well as one of the longest-serving administrators among active deans of students in all of Kentucky higher education.

And on March 15, Schmidt became a hall of fame dean of students when he was inducted into the College Personnel Association of Kentucky Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Lexington.

Basketball: Indians face Trojans in 5th Region Championship

Tipoff for the 2025 5th Region Regional Tournament Championship Basketball game is set for 6pmCT/7pmET on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Marion Co. High School, 735 East Main Street Lebanon, KY. Tickets are $10.85, and can be purchased online at eventlink.com.

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

On Monday, March 17, 2025 the Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Caverna Colonels 56-49 in the semifinals of the 5th Region tournament at Marion County High School. The team will now set their sights on the North Hardin Trojans, who defeated Green County 63-60, in overtime, in the other semifinal game.

The Trojans come in to this game winners of four straight and six of their last seven. That streak includes a 81-57 victory over Bethlehem in the first round of the 5th Region tournament.

In their game against Green County, the Trojans trailed the large majority of the time, and by as much as 15 at one point, but were able to fight back and force overtime where they defeated a Green County team in foul trouble and struggling to score.

The Trojans have managed to win just one game all year when their opponent has scored in excess of 65 points, going 1-7 when that happens. Thus, a likely path to victory for Adair County in this matchup would be to score in high numbers, something the team can do having scored over 65 in three of their last four games.

This year's Indians squad has the chance to do something that no Adair County team has done in a very long time, win back-to-back 5th Region championships. They could use your help in doing so, so come out tonight and cheer on your Adair County Indians.
