CPD: Meth arrest after traffic stop By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department On Saturday evening, October 5, 2024, the Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop on West Barbee Street. After making contact with driver consent was given to search vehicle with Officers finding drug paraphernalia and suspected narcotics. Paul Dart, 59, of Columbia was placed in custody and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine 3rd offense. Virginia Elizabeth McCubbin, 86, Greensburg, KY Virginia Elizabeth Trowbridge Hardwick McCubbin of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Cecil E. Trowbridge and Ethel Curry Trowbridge, was born on Wednesday, February 2, 1938 in Green County and passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at her home. She was 86 years, eight months, and one day of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She worked at Fruit of the Loom and in the cafeteria at Green County Elementary School. Sandra McGowan, 71, Russell Springs, KY (1953-2024) Sandra Lynn Shepherd McGowan, 71, of Russell Springs, KY, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024. She was born on July 5, 1953 to the late William Arvol and Anna Belle Gider Shepherd. Sandra married James McGowan in 1968 and was a long-time, active member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She loved playing piano and was always willing to play at church when asked. Sandra also enjoyed singing karaoke, visiting thrift stores, and sewing, particularly making quilts for her family. Known for her caring heart, she always saw the best in others and was ready to help anyone in need. Sandra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and was proud to keep her home tidy and organized. She will be remembered as a "mother to everyone" who knew her.
