KSP investigates fatal Millerfield Road collision By Trooper Jonathan Houk (December 28, 2023) - On December 23, 2023 at approximately 11:00 A.M. CST, Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers responded to a single vehicle injury collision at the 1800 block on Millerfield Road in Adair County. The preliminary investigation revealed that Frankie Chumbley, age 55 of Columbia, was traveling east on Millerfield Road in a 2006 Jeep Wrangler when she dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Ms. Chumbley attempted to steer her vehicle back on the roadway and overcorrected. Ms. Chumbley then lost control of her vehicle, exited the left shoulder of the roadway, and overturned. Lois Daffron, 83, Taylor County, KY (1940-2023) Lois Daffron of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Curtis Lee Nunn and Carrie Pearl Anderson Nunn, was born June 2, 1940 in Green County, Kentucky. She died Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at age 83. There was always room at the table and plenty to eat, as cooking for family and friends was her love language. She saw the best in everyone. If you needed it, she'd find a way to get it. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lois also enjoyed fishing. She never met a stranger and she took in anyone and everyone, becoming a stand-in mom whenever needed. ACSO: Deer in road on KY 1729 cause injury accident From Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Thursday, December 28, 2023, Sheriff Josh Brockman received a call at 5:06amCT of an injury collision on KY1729, 8 miles east of Columbia. Upon arrival, it was found that Kimberly Curry, 47, of Columbia, and her son, Kalyn Curry, age 7, had been traveling south on KY 1729 in the Sano community. Curry was operating a 2021 Nissan passenger car. Multiple deer crossed the roadway in front of her vehicle, and she struck at least two of them. Both Curry and her son were treated on scene by Adair County EMS before transportation to TJ Health Columbia. ACSO: Additional charges follow Christmas Day incident From Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, Adair County Road Foreman Barry Hamlett contacted Sheriff Brockman in reference to damage to a truck owned by the Adair County Fiscal Court. Upon arrival and investigation of scene, it was found that the truck stolen from the Kentucky Transportation Department's state highway barn on 12-25-23 had struck the vehicle. (CPD: Columbia man charged with DUI, theft of state vehicle) The vehicle ran through the gate and proceeded over an embankment where it struck a truck used by the Adair County Road Department. The collision caused considerable damage to both vehicles.
