Adair man arrested on felony drug charges Sheriff Josh Brockman, Adair County Sheriffs Office On 12-24-23 Deputy Josh Durbin responded to a call in the Glensfork community of Adair County 8 miles south of Columbia. Nell Frances Ward, 99, Russell County, KY (1924-2023) Nell Frances Allen Ward, of Russell Springs, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, having attained the age of 99 years, 11 months and one week. At her passing, she was the oldest surviving member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church and was an active servant in her church many years. She had a love for life; she would spread joy and laughter wherever she went. She stayed active, traveling and going on adventures. She loved camping and riding motorcycles and four-wheelers. She was a Red Bird Clogger, an avid UK Wildcat fan and a fixture in the Ward family tradition, playing 500 Rummy. Tennessee woman arrested on multiple charges Sheriff Josh Brockman, Adair County Sheriffs Office On 12-24-23 at 1:12 a.m. Deputy Josh Durbin made contact with a female on the Louie B Nunn Parkway East of Columbia. Johnita Easley age 45 of Nashville, was found to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance and placed into custody. During search suspected methamphetamine was located. Garry Humphress, 87, Adair County, KY (1936-2023) Garry Allen Humphress, 87, of Columbia, Kentucky, son of the late Lee A. Humphress and Estelle Hovious Humphress was born October 16th, 1936, in Columbia, KY, and departed this life on December 24th, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He was a retired cabinet maker. He manufactured cherry furniture for 61 years. He enjoyed mowing and spending time outdoors. He has loved singing gospel music since 1975 and has been singing with the Living Waters Gospel Group for over 18 years. He professed faith in Christ and was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Church of God for many years. He was a school bus driver for the Adair County School System for 27 years. CPD: Columbia man charged with DUI, theft of state vehicle By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO Columbia Police Department On Monday night, December 25, 2023, officers responded to Adair Regional Jail shortly after 9:30pmCT, after report of a suspicious male and vehicle parked in front of the facility on Greensburg Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the subject and determined that he was under the influence and detained him. The vehicle in question was a state Highway Department truck which had visible damage on the body. The Highway Department was notified and it was soon found male had stolen the truck from their office on Campbellsville Street, driving through a locked gate in the process and causing damage to property and vehicle.
