The church youth and children led the second Sunday of Advent worship service with their plan, "A Merry Little Christmas" last week. Mary and Joseph were played by Dori Ballou and Bowen Furkin. Tiny Charlotte Critz, baby daughter of Andy and Jessica Critz, was perfect in the role of the Baby Jesus. CU graduates 859 in December 2023 ceremonies By Gerard Flanagan, news writer and photographer, Office of University Communications Campbellsville, KY -- For December 2023, CU President Joseph Hopkins conferred 859 degrees. Between the three ceremonies, there were 13 associate degrees, 159 bachelor's degrees, and 687 master's degrees. During her address, Dr. Jeanette Parker lightheartedly admitted she has thought about writing her own book about important lessons students learn in college or during graduate school. "You have learned some things in college," Parker said at the first two commencement ceremonies in Ransdell Chapel. "We pray that you have gained some knowledge, skills and experiences that will help you navigate whatever comes next." Danny Spears, 65, Cumberland County, KY (1958-2023) Danny Reed Spears, age 65 of Burkesville, KY passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Med Center Health in Bowling Green. Body discovered in March identified as Casey County man A body discovered near Green River Lake in March of this year has been identified as that of Dennis Davis of Casey County, KY. On March 28, 2023 the Taylor County Sheriff's Office and Taylor County Coroner's Office were dispatched to a wooded area near Green River Lake off of Smith Ridge Road, where a property owner had located human remains. Investigators located the completely skeletonized body of an individual in the woods. CACFD: House fire on White Oak Church Road From Grant Loy, PIO Columbia - Adair County Fire Department The Columbia - Adair County Fire Department was dispatched at 16:18 hours on 12/14/2023 to 1361 White Oak Church Road for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire conditions. An offensive attack was made on the structure and the fire was brought under control shortly thereafter. The fire was contained to the structure, which was declared a total loss. There were a total of 18 firefighters on the scene for approximately 2 hours.
