The Navigating Fox, most popular of Rowe's books

By Linda Waggener

Adair County native and award winning author Christopher Rowe was the guest author at Sixth & Main Coffeehouse in Shelbyville Saturday for his latest book signing. His new book, The Navigating Fox, is a fantastical fable of "knowledgeable creatures" in the vein of Brian Jacques's Redwall series, but for adults.

Since he started publishing professionally in 1998 - This is his sixth book - Chris has made his reputation set largely in Kentucky and Tennessee in the future because he believes the future happens everywhere, not just on the east and west coasts.

Bob Bell, "The Legend," honored for work in broadcasting

By Amber Hobaugh, Editor
Adair Progress

Bob Bell has had an interest in radio for just about as long as he can remember, hanging out at his grandmother's store in Creelsboro listening to the music, news and radio programs.

Then, one year he received a recorder as a Christmas gift and thus was a turning point for Bob's passion for radio.

"I would sit by the radio at my Grandma's store and record songs, then when a song would end, I would turn down the radio and do my little spiel before introducing the next song," Bell said, "I would even do my own newscasts reporting on the happenings around Creelsboro."

Eventually, Morris Gaskins hired him part-time, as WJKY was just starting out, to report the Creelsboro local news. This kicked off Bell's 20 plus year career in broadcasting.

Swimming: Hour of Power Relay raises funds for cancer research

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's swim teams took to the Holloway Center Natatorium pool on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, joining thousands of fellow student-athletes across the nation to celebrate the 18th Annual Ted Mullin "Leave it in the Pool" Hour of Power Relay for Sarcoma Research, sponsored by the Carleton College swimming and diving teams.

Despite a fierce rivalry, joining the Blue Raiders at the Holloway Center Natatorium was the Campbellsville University men and women's swim team.

This season marks the 10th year the Blue Raiders have taken part in the Hour of Power Relay. "This is one of my favorite team traditions because it's a way for two rival teams to come together to give back to a cause that's bigger than we are," head coach Alicia Kemnitz said. "We've been doing this for a decade and I don't see us stopping any time soon. Two great teams teaming up for a wonderful cause--it's meaningful in multiple ways."

Letter: Use black gel pens to prevent fraud

Jessica Edwards writes:
Just letting everybody know, the best gel pen to get to help prevent fraud, is the uniball 207. It actually says on the package that's what it's for. They're retractable gel pens, and usually come in packs of two or more.
