KSP to investigate Green Co. incident Related: Greensburg PD cruiser stolen, retrieved after chase Greensburg, KY - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 in Columbia has been requested by the Greensburg Police Department (GPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on November 26, 2023 at approximately 7:17 p.m. CST in Green County. At the request of the GPD, KSP Post 15 Troopers and Detectives responded to the scene on Creason Lane near the intersection with US 68. KSP initiated an investigation into the incident and it remains ongoing. Billy Ford, 72, Taylor County, KY (1951-2023) Clarence William "Billy" Ford, 72, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Joseph L. Ford and Mary M. Hill Ford was born August 1st, 1951 and departed this life on Friday, November 24, 2023. He united in marriage to the love of his life, Ms. Martha Pamela "Pam" Caldwell on October 17th, 1970. She survives. He retired from and was the previous owner of Ford's Lawn Care and Landscaping. He loved spending time outdoors with his grandsons. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and turtling. Ray Hudgins, 80, Green County, KY (1943-2023) Ray Hudgins of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Carl Edward Hudgins and Bernice Holt Hudgins, was born on Wednesday, February 3, 1943 in Green County and departed this life on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in Greensburg. He was 80 years, 9 months, and 22 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. Greensburg PD cruiser stolen, retrieved after chase From Larry Joe Smith On November 26th, 2023 at approximately 1915 hours an officer with the Greensburg Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a Green County, KY man at an address on Creason Lane in Greensburg. The officer located Jason Marta of Greensburg and was involved in a minor altercation while attempting to take him into custody. The officer was able to place Marta into cuffs and placed him into his police cruiser. While the officer was still attending to the male subject after the altercation, a female identified as Alisha Posey age 30 of Greensburg entered the driver's seat. Christmas in Columbia 2023 kicks off Friday and Saturday From Ellen Zornes Executive Director, Chamber of Commerce The Columbia-Adair Chamber of Commerce invites you to its annual 'Christmas in Columbia' this Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2, 2023. Remember: Thursday, November 30, 2023, is your last chance to enter our 'Shop Local' drawing for your chance to win a $50 gift card to your favorite Chamber retail store or restaurant. Just visit our local stores and put your name and phone number in the Thank You bag. Names will be drawn on Friday, December 1, just in time to shop and eat at the last 'To the Nines' late night shopping event of the year. 2024 Kentucky hemp license information From Lisa Tolliver Frankfort, KY - The window to apply for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's 2024 hemp licensing program is now open, Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles has announced. The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA), which administers Kentucky's hemp licensing program, is hosting an online application portal on its hemp webpage, kyagr.com/hemp. Grower applications, including renewals, must be submitted by March 15, 2024. New processor/handler applications may be submitted year-round. Annual processor/handler license renewals must be submitted by December 31, 2023. During the last application period, KDA licensed 170 hemp growers to cultivate up to 4,050 acres and 71 hemp processors and handlers for 2023. Of the 170 hemp grower licenses, about 60 licensees planted hemp, growing just over 1,500 acres this year. Basketball: Guess' layup at the buzzer leads LWC past Midway Midway, KY - Taylor Guess scored a layup at the buzzer to give the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team a 65-64 victory over Midway Saturday at Marshall Gymnasium. Following a Midway (2-5) missed shot, the Blue Raiders (5-2) got the ball with nine seconds left. Guess missed the layup coming out of the timeout but there was a tie-up and the possession arrow favored Lindsey Wilson. Guess received the inbound and drove to the hoop getting the shot off just in time to give the Blue Raiders the victory.
