ACSO: Adair man arrested after attempted warrant service From Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On September 22, 2023, the Adair County Sheriff's Office arrived at a residence off Coburg Lane to serve a felony warrant that included charges of cocaine possession. Upon making visual contact outside of the residence, the recipient fled on foot. Deputies Josh Durbin and Chandler Staten gave chase. The man made it back into his house, where he turned and attempted to fight deputies. He was subdued and took into custody without injury. Letter: Courthouse brick Diana Long writes: My question is: Since they are redoing the courthouse back to its original state can they not either sand blast or water blast the paint off to put it back to its original brick? Painting it is not its original state, and that paint will not do it justice at all. Miss Victoria's Pampered Angus Ranch remembers Ed By Victoria Pike Many of you may not know this but the name of this place started with Ed and my stories from the farm he so lovingly named Miss Victoria's Pampered Angus Ranch. I think it emerged around the time little Oscar the pot-bellied pig wondered from up in the Flatwoods down across Jimmy Woody's place to my Hunter Place farm and then onto what is now known as the Pampered Angus Ranch. I sent in a plain story about a wandering pig in the neighborhood and he turned it into a delightful story with pictures of the chase to capture little Oscar. He had that ability to make a story POP. I sure miss our conversations on what mischief he would suggest I needed to get in the middle of next. He could tell a story like no other with lots of wit and humor but in the end you could read between the lines and know what he was trying to get across. Sometimes Linda and I laugh about how he would enjoy telling some of today's happenings in our beloved Adair County. You certainly are missed Ed. A couple of Ed thoughts By Billy Joe Fudge After stumbling upon a new word I would often share it with Ed, only to find that he already had an intimate relationship with it. He had a wordagrafic memory. I shall never cease to smile when remembering the pleasure and excitement Ed would experience each time he would share with me that a particular tidbit of information should be nominated for Coy Downey's, "World Book of Guinness's"! One particular special moment for me occurred when I stopped by to visit. I knocked on the heavy wood door and Linda invited me in. She sat down in Ed's office chair and I moved about 200 pounds of papers and books out of the other chair prior to sitting down. During that moving process, I asked if Ed was at home and Linda said he's taking a nap. I told her it was no problem and that I could come back later because I only wanted to tell him a story.
