He writes, "The following devotion was prepared by Robert Pulliam, a cooperative producer for Pharo Cattle Company. Robert lives in Montrose, Colorado. This is his absentee Bible lesson for the church group he serves." Locked Down or Lifted Up? Lessons from Paul in Prison The recent "lockdown" of our normal lives continues to cause inconvenience, financial hardship, and disappointment to everyone. Markets imploding, plans cancelled, fear of the future, even the lack of toilet paper! In this situation, I believe we should try to encourage one another from the Word of God, and I believe that there are bright spots, however dim they may appear at this time. For men, sturdy cotton and, maybe monogrammed by their daughters. They were actually an art and they have a long history among humans. Evidence of handkerchiefs dates to 2000 BC, when wealthy Egyptians carried bleached white handkerchiefs made of expensive linen. In western culture, the handkerchief became art by the 14th century. Queens embroidered silk, lace handkerchiefs. Handkerchiefs were carried not just for personal hygiene, but also became symbols of love, according to bonjourparis.com. Row, row, row - a good inside exercise As we think of ways to stay active while inside, rowing is back in style. According to a story in Prevention Magazine, rowing is listed as one of the top fitness trends this year. And it makes sense. Rowing is low impact and works an eye-popping 86 percent of the muscles in the body, according to the article. It's also perfect for people who sit at desks all day (or those who just sit. We can all benefit from un-hunching our shoulders, and rowing helps with that. The combination movements - pulling with the upper body and pushing with the legs - helps with posture. Adair County Schools closed through 17 Apr 2020 By Phyllis Curry, Acadmic Dean Adair County Schools Adair County Schools will now be closed through Friday, April 17, 2020, based on information received from the governor's office Friday afternoon. Because of emergency procedures now in place statewide, schools are allowed to count the days students are engaged in learning at home as instructional days, provided we meet the guidelines provide by KDE. Thank you for your patience as we work through this process on short notice. Every effort has been made to deliver or have you pick up instructional packets for work to be completed during the 14 day period leading up to spring break. If you have not received your child's packet, you may pick one up at your child's school Monday-Friday from 9amCT to 3pmCT. Since students will not be returning to school the Monday after spring break, the process for returning the packet of work will have to be changed so the documentation of those assignments can be submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education by the established deadlines. Updates will be sent out as this information becomes available. The district will be getting more guidance from KDE on Monday and Tuesday. Kentucky Color: New Normal? By Billy Joe Fudge After seeing Russell Creek out of its banks and spreading across overflow bottoms, probably 15 different days or more this winter, I'm beginning to ask, "is this the new normal"? The answer is most likely, yes and no! Historically speaking we've been above average rainfall since November of 2017 and according to numbers I saw recently, 2019 was considerably above average and most of us here in the Great Wooded South had no measurable rainfall in September. When checking the numbers for Bowling Green, the 21st Century has had two years in the top 10 wettest years and one year in the top 10 driest years. ARTS IN ADAIR: a call to action from GSA student Emma This is a call to action from one student's experience at Governor School for the Arts (GSA). Here are the changes she said she hopes to see in Adair County in her presentation at the March Chamber of Commerce meeting: - "I want to make sure that every artist in Adair County has the opportunity to go forth and make great art. - "One day, I'd like to be able to came back home and watch a school play on a real stage instead of the high school cafeteria. - "I want to see just as many people at choir concerts or band competitions as there are at basketball games. - "I want to see students paintings displayed somewhere other than the school basement." By ACHS senior Emma Grider I've been acting for the past seven years. My family went to Disney World when I was little, and we watched a stage show of Beauty and the Beast. As the actors took their final bows, I remember looking at my mom and saying "Momma, I wanna do that."
