Mike Watson: How Eunice, KY got its name By Mike Watson, Adair County Historian Eunice post office, Adair County, was established in June 1896 with Robert Welby Allen as first post master. The name submitted by Mr. Allen was "Eunice" in honor of his daughter. Mr. Allen operated a store at what came to be Eunice. The store burned one night in June 1900. Nothing was said of the post office being destroyed, but it was almost certainly housed in his store. Mr. Allen later resigned as postmaster and John M. Vaughan took over in April 1901. Mr. Allen moved his family from Adair County about 1903 and settled first at Selma, Kansas, then at Anson, Kansas, where he was a merchant in 1910. His wife and daughter, Eunice, visited relatives in Adair County in 1909. 2015-05-20 11:26:28 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Mike Watson - History

Counties in Comer's country had high voter turnout percentages James Comer's home county, Monroe, had the highest voter turnout in the state See Voter Turnout by County for all 120 counties: 2015 KY Primary Election Voter Turnout ColumbiaMagazine.com Special Story ANALYSIS The results of last night's primary election was evidence of the importance of old fashioned, belly-to-belly, one-on-one, local organizational efforts. In South Central Kentucky, local, retail political efforts dominated. Small personal efforts yielded huge results. Even in Adair County, Comer partisans are waking up this morning knowing that had they gotten fewer than an average of six more of their voters per precinct, their candidate would have narrowly won, rather than narrowly lost, the statewide election. Similar numbers can be calculated in the South Central Kentucky Counties where the Tompkinsville native did best. Counties in the the CM 7-County area, all of which voted heavily for South Central Kentuckian Jamie Comer, had higher turnouts than the state average in the Tue 19 May election, ranked below by percent voter turnout:
Statewide unofficial results: 399,196 votes were cast of 3,175,905 registered voters, for a 12.575 voter turnout - dismally low, but slightly higher than the 10% predicted. 2015-05-20 03:14:23 | Comments | Printable version Birthdays and Anniversaries for May 20 Happy Anniversary, Micah and Jaclyn Abbott (2006) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Anniversary, William and Ople Dial (1961) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Briley Ann Breeding (2010) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Brooklynne Carroll (2002) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jacob Stewart Cowan (1993) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Janet Wall | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jennifer Wall | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jessica Pyles (1991) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Kathy Hitch | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Norma H.
