ORANGE BEACH, AL - The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team used a 3-0 shutout performance to defeat Cumberland (TN) in the NAIA National Championship Quarterfinals on a foggy Wednesday night, 3 Dec 2014, at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, 4389 Pub Works Road, Orange Beach, AL.

Lindsey Wilson goals were scored by Anna Vig, Fabienne Rochaix,and Lindsay Kitson. This is the third-consecutive season the women’s soccer program has advanced to the national semifinals.

Veterans need to be at the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene Church parking lot, 1200 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY at 5:30pmCT, Sat 6 Dec 2014

The float will be directly behind this year's Grand Marshal vehicle - the WWII veterans (9 are participating!). Please be a part of this so our community can show our appreciation! It doesn't matter if you wear a uniform or casual clothes. Parade goers are encouraged to bring their American flags to wave! We should be thanking Gerald, Wan Soo Cho, the musicians from the Louisville Orchestra, the Lindsey Singers and Concert Choir rather than the musicians thanking us.

It was a magnificent evening of inspired music. Thanks to those who brought Columbia such a wonderful program! KY Arts Council releases KY Creative Industry Report

Creative industry accouns for 2.5 percent of overall KY jobs or 108,498 jobs; industry as a whole generates $1.9 million in earning in Commonwealth

FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky Arts Council today released the Kentucky Creative Industry Report, commissioned by the state arts agency last year. The report creates a baseline assessment of the number of people employed by Kentucky's creative enterprises, the industry's economic impact, and an examination of its convergence with other important economic sectors.

LWC Soccer vs/ Cumberland in NAIA Championship Quarterfinals

Tonight's match marks the sixth all-time postseason meeting between the two programs

COLUMBIA, KY - The sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team plays third-seeded Cumberland (TN) at 6:30pmCT on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, 4389 William Silvers Parkway, Orange Beach, AL 36561, as part of the NAIA National Championship Quarterfinals.

The Blue Raiders (15-3-3) progressed through the National Championship Second Round after winning by a 5-1 margin against 11th-seeded Mobile (AL) on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.

Harlon Crenshaw, Edmonton, KY (d. 2 Dec 2014)

He was a retired county extension agent and a member of the Edmonton United Methodist Church and also a WWII army veteran. He was the son of the late Ivy Isaac and Linda Clark Crenshaw and the widower of Rachel Crenshaw. he leaves eight direct living descendants.

He was a mechanic for Robeson Manufacturing. He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Hubert & Susie Long Groce. His wife of 23 years, Mildred Holman Groce, survives. He leave three direct and 12 step living descendants.

Nearly every family at some time finds themselves in possession, by default, of a collection of lumpy photo albums, or vintage shoe boxes which when opened disgorge a tumble of shiny Kodak photos, scalloped edges crumbling, creases distorting a face or a landscape.

The first such album which I recall lived in the parlor cupboard of my grandfather's farmhouse--the house to which he had come upon his marriage, the newly purchased home of his wife's parents.

LWC's James Flint named MSC Wrestler of the Week

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson freshman James Flint is the Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. The weekly honor is the first of Flint’s career. The Brandon, FL, native posted a 4-1 record last week at the Newberry Duals 20 Nov 2014, competing against all NCAA Division II institutions. Flint is now 15-4 overall on the season with a 6-2 record in dual meets. All eight of his dual meet matches have come against NCAA Division I and Division II competition. The sixth-ranked Blue Raiders concluded the day with a 2-3 record at the duals. - Charles Balcom

The Greensburg Fire Department is continuing its death and fire investigation in regard to the death of Jerry W. Smith, 60, in the fire Monday evening at 9:40pmCT, at Hillview Terrace, Hodgenville Avenue, Greensburg, KY, Greensburg Police Chief Wayne Hedgespeth said.

Smith's body was found in his burned apartment. Smith was a native of Adair County, KY.

ACHS Academic Team wins Fall League once again

Continuing a Tradition of Excellence: Title has been won by ACHS every year since inception in 2007. Adair County has won Governor's Cup District for nine years in a row

The ACHS Academic Team repeated as Green River Regional Academic League Champions on Monday, December 1, as they hosted the final night of the three-month-long competition. Adair entered the evening as the number one seed and swept through the final night's tournament with double-digit victories in each round to be crowned champions. Since the inception of the Fall League in 2007, Adair County has claimed the title every year, which has featured teams from Taylor, Russell, Larue, Campbellsville, and Green in that span.
