Epicurean Kentuckian: Top Tier Boba

2022-10-04 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
In this food review, granddaughter Tillie pronounced Columbia's donut house, located beside the old Circle R, as serving "top tier Boba." She and her sister cousin Hailey are tasting their way across the USA to find the best. Taro tea is how Boba is listed on the Best Donuts menu board, with a main ingredient of that root vegetable. Taro is a widely cultivated species of several plants in the family Araceae that originated in Taiwan in the early 1980s. Boba, or Bubble tea, most commonly consists of tea accompanied by chewy tapioca balls, but it can be made with other toppings as well, such as grass jelly, aloe vera, or red bean according to Wikipedia.
