Happy 106th Birthday, Irene Miller Nell

2021-07-23 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com archives.
We are reminded that July 24, 2021, "Adair County native Irene Nell will be 106 years young. This is certainly a milestone that most of us will never see. I've stayed in touch with her since my mom passed away. She is a remarkable lady." - Vicki Brock Miller

Asked on her hundredth birthday how to enjoy a long life, Irene said she believes in eating what you want, keep on working, and read the Book of James. What does she likes about James? She said simply, "he just tells it like it is." She reads the Bible through regularly and reads over a hundred books each year.

She and her husband Willie Nell ran the popular Nell's Variety Store on the Square in Columbia for over 28 years.
