As you drive into the COVID-19 Family Medical Centers test site on Fairground Street in Columbia, the following frequently asked questions and answers are posted:

Q: Will I be charged for today's visit?
A: There is nothing to pay today. Your insurance will be billed for a patient visit and COVID-19 test. You may be responsible for some cost based on your insurance coverage.

Q: When do I need to quarantine?
A: If you test positive, the health department will be contacting you. You will need to quarantine until released by the health department. If you did is negative but have been exposed, you will need to quarantine for 14 days as symptoms can begin anytime from two days up to 14 days after exposure.

Q: What type of test will I get today?
A: If you have symptoms and/or had an exposure, you will be offered an on-site antigen test. Test results will be available in 15 minutes. If you do not have symptoms and have not been exposed you will receive a PCR test. Results will be provided within 24 to 72 hours, and you will be notified of the results. In some cases a PCR test may be recommended by the health care provider on site for further evaluation.

Q: Will I be seen by a healthcare provider today?
A: Yes, you will be seen by a medical doctor or nurse practitioner. You will have your temperature and oxygen saturation level checked and will receive an exam of your heart and lungs. The healthcare provider will assess what type of COVID-19 tests you need based on your symptoms and or exposure.
