Photographer Marie Freeman in the Breeding, KY area, writes, "These mushrooms form almost a perfect circle I removed the ones inside the fence because I was afraid of poison with my pets. I find it fascinating the folklore with Fairy Ring mushrooms. Of course since science has proven different. I have yet to find a Keebler elf. :-) If I would’ve allowed to stay they would’ve gotten much bigger. But I really don’t want the spores in my yard. I never would attempt to eat a Fairy Ring mushroom, too hard to identify a non-poisonous. I enjoy fungus. But I respect it too. More at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy_ring ."
