Joy McAlpine's Bubble Tea among local art gallery works

2019-09-12 - Slider Hall, Lindsey Wilson College - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Bubble tea is the name of this work by Joy McAlpine displayed in the art gallery at Lindsey Wilson College. (This photo is a closeup of part of her painting.) Her artist statement says, “I am passionate about animation and comics. They are greatly unappreciated art forms and much more versatile than people give them credit for. I was born in Nagoya, Japan, and I am part Japanese on my mother's side. I’ve been consuming Japanese pop culture my entire life.” Her work can be seen during the The Adair County Arts Council exhibit of works by local artists, underway in the Lucretia C. Begley Gallery in the LWC Slider Humanities Center.
