Radar in action - keep speed limit in mind in Columbia

The Columbia Police Department announced at a recent City Council meeting that ABC funds designated to be used for law enforcement have been used to place radar equipment in every vehicle as a means of helping curb speeding in the city. In this picture, Sgt Jr Murphy demonstrated equipment capabilities to monitor vehicle speeds in both lanes of traffic on busy Hwy 61/Burkesville Street between downtown and New Columbia. Some of the recent speeding traffic stops using the new equipment have resulted in discoveries of illegal drugs, helping with the challenge of enforcement of using and moving contraband.
