A board of volunteers works with the director leading the Jim Blair Park and Recreation Center in Columbia. Pam Shearer, standing at left, was appointed by Fiscal Court to the board and will take over the duties of secretary as Linda Waggener, right, finishes two-years of service and rotates off the board. Jamie Hadley, not pictured, has also been appointed to the board and will begin his service in November. Seated are Chair Cynthia Rowe, left, and Vice Chair Jelaine Harlow, at right. In back from left are Shearer, Greg Caldwell, Steven Baker, director Lisa Handy and Waggener. The park is jointly owned by the city and county and has been making gradual improvements each month over the past few years. The next projects budgeted for will be ceiling lights and new floor inside the building. Volunteers are always needed and the first Wednesday at 5pmCT monthly meetings are open to the public.
