Adair County School Board will have public hearing on tax rate

The Adair County School Board, from left upper corner, Chair Lisa Burton (Div 3), Daniel Adams (2), Michael George Payne (5), Jonathan Gaskins (2), and Vice Chair Terry Harvey (1) voted unanimously last night, Monday, August 27, 2018, to hold a public hearing prior to the Board's regular September session to allow public input on the tax rate for this year. The hearing will consider a proposal to keep the tax rate the same as last year and add taxation of private aircraft, or use a compensating rate for this year's tax bills. The vote to hold the hearing was made by Member Daniel Adams, with a second by Member Jonathan Gaskins. The hearing is set for 5:30pmCT, Thursday, September 20, 2018. The regular session will follow at 6pmCT, at which time the board is expected to adopt the tax rate for the 2018 tax bills. - EW
