Wildflowers of KY - Fairy Clothesline in Russell County, KY

2018-07-09 - Along a Russell County, KY byway not too far from Coffeys Chapel church. - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.

Every day scientists are telling us the mechanisms for how things get from here to there. This photo was taken of black-eyed susans, at the base, but when the photo was opened, the 'fairy clothes line' vine - ID welcome - turned out to be the more interesting part of the picture, the vine arching from the ground to the barbed wire fence post. Would love to see a time lapse video showing how the plant engineered this feat. The photo, taken 12 hours out of sync with its magic time, was taken Sun 8 Jul 2018. - EW
