Pest control with no frequent fee: Dirt Daubers

2018-05-13 - Either Harrodsburg or Columbia, KY, we\\\\\\\'d guess - Photo from Mike Watson, Adair County Historian.
Mike Watson sends this photo of some friendly house guests who perform free spider control when host home owner learns to leave well enough alone and does not expend finite energy by doing 'work which should not be did.' Dirt Daubers are wasps, and could sting, but they rarely do unless victim is very mean to them. Having their druthers, they just like to make their living doing their thing. Strange, how most of us grew up thinking their truly beautiful natural insect pueblos were to be knocked down with the blunt end of a broom and then swept away with the other. Not so for these.
