Newton Reeves the prodigal Cat is welcomed back

2018-02-28 - Bull Run Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Renee Reeves.
It's the best kind of story we get. A panicked Renee Reeves wrote last night at 8:57pmCT, "Big fuzzy black cat missing in the Bull Run area of Columbia. He has no claws and stays inside all the time but he has somehow gotten out without us knowing, most likely since this morning,, Tuesday, February 27th. He answers to Newton or Newt but he is a little timid and doubt he would come to you. Please if anyone in the area of Bull Run or Pelly Lane thinks they might have seen him, please call me (phone numbers). He is a family pet of my grandchildren." At 9:03pmCT, just six minutes later, she wrote, "I just sent you an email about a big black cat missing. He has just now showed up so I wanted to be sure and let you know to disregard my other email. Thank you anyway but we are thankful he is home, safe and sound." Of course we tell ourselves that writing us was the good luck charm which brought Newton home. But that's not the story, though it happens frequently - an almost frantic note comes in, and whether we post or not, the missing pet most often returns of its own accord, as Newt did. And we're happier than we could ever be if the magazine had played a role in the happy reunion. And that's the case with Newt, whose odyssey, needed to be told . . . and who, I believe, wants his picture in the paper. - ED
