The Changing Face of Fairground Street and the Old Fairground

The entrance to the former Adair County Fairground, 413 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY, was removed this past week, along with most of the concrete above ground level. Diagonally across from the Young Street stop sign, what you don't see are the limestone wing walls of the entrance, the above ground pedestal for the Veteran's Memorial Monument, and other concrete features which stood at the entrance. To the right of the sign, across the street is Pyles Excavating equipment used to prepare the site for it's next use. The photo was taken Friday, February 2, 2018. - EW
