Great Literature at ACPL lends detail for Squarecrow # 32

2017-10-20 - Adair County Public Library, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Even before super hero Captain Underpants was immortalized by Ryder Piralta's Squarecrow #32, he had at least a cult following of readers at the Adair County Public Library, as evidenced by this well worn, dog-eared copy. The epic novel may never eclipse "A Confederacy of Dunces," as the greatest American work of literature, but it's up there. Underpants devotees are amazed at how lifelike Piralta's creation is. Parents and grandparents can be assured that kids' interest in Capt. Underpants is not misguided. In the introduction, the creators recall that they were "responsible boys," as students, saying, "any time something bad happened in school, "we were responsible." Ryder, it is reported by his grandmother, may make time in his schedule for a photo with his creation before it comes down after Halloween Treats on the Town, we aren't sure. He is the grandson of Ben and Margaret Arnold of Columbia. This photo is of the cover of the first printing, "first epic novel by Dav Pilkey" and is available, along with others, at the Adair County Public Library, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY -- ED WAGGENER
