Downtown Days: Johnny White & Daughter of Fox Creek

2017-10-13 - Municipal Parking Lot, W Fortune & S Reed Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Downtown Days are filled with success stories, and it's great that Downtown Days is a part of this one. A new tradition is underway, a relationship is building which we hope will continue in the vein of the one established between Myers Amusement and Bobby & Gloria Myers with the Adair County Fair. This one, has some really deep, Kentucky Roots. Fox Creek is Lexington based. Got a chance to learn more about Johnny White, above with daughter Daisy White, who were working last night, getting the show ready for opening Friday evening, making sure all the rides were set up, including new ones were set up and safe, that every light was working, and that the cookhouses - new this year - were ready to serve everything from his own homemade lemonade (eat your heart out, Jerry Lundergan; the Fox Creek process has a an innovative step which makes better than any other lemondade, Johnny White says), funnel cakes, and shaved ice. Daisy is already a very mature nine year old. Her mother, at home in Lexington, KY, is a teacher, so she has great role model parents; but she's already chosen a career: In a few short years she plans to answer a High Calling, and be in charge of Fox Creek Amusements. We'll be following that story, for sure. - EW
