At Farmers Market on the Square: Community Garden provides wide variety 2017-09-16 - Corner Merchant & Campbellsville Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c). In the Community Garden booth at the far end of FM2, director Dr. Mike Bosela, center, provided fruit, vegetables and herbs available for donations. It was a popular place where everyone wanted to know what was in the box full of little grape-sized items in their own wrappers -- looking like teensy versions of the Mexican husk tomato, Tomatillo. Dr. Bosela and his helper, LWC student Colby Greer from Glasgow, front left, patiently explained as they offered free tastes. Pictured at right are Renee, Dwight and three-year-old Piper Renfro, who had her first taste of ground cherries. In back at left are Jackie Montgomery and Linda Waggener tasting and exclaiming over Lime Basil, stocking up as they made great plans to make and freeze Pesto. It sounds so simple, as in one recipe featured in the New York Times which proclaimed Pesto as "a mouthful of bright summer". After cleaning the Basil, remove stems and grind it with garlic and oil to create a sauce for pasta, fish or chicken dishes. Permalink | Comments?
