For any true child of Ole Met, the scene above evokes infinite memories of one of America's beautiful downtowns, which has had minor ups and downs, but has remained the centerpiece of the community throughout the years, even through the devastation of so many county seats which have had to be revived. Downtown Edmonton has remained a walking campus - or a park-one-time-and walk, for almost all the government services a citizen needs. The photo was taken while photographing the latest major improvement, Metcalfe County Fiscal Court's new Government Building, out of right frame above, and our eyes falling on the now fine covered bulding, with a pleasing if not tradition paint scheme, and remembering The Strand Theatre - the old picture show - that, and much more. Maybe we'll get to a few of those memories this weekend - and we welcome yours, even if it's just memories of passing through on the way to Glasgow to the hospital decades ago, or memories of the marking point, turning the corner onto Glasgow Road and entering Western Kentucky or on your way to Western Kentucky State College. - EW/LW Permalink | Comments?
