From the Silent City, the Columbia City Cemetery, to a Shining City on a Hill, in this view from Oak and Campbellsville Street, is a view of another area which might have been called "New Columbia," if Danny Pyles hadn't preempted the name for the huge commercial area around Holladay Place on the south side of town. Quite deliberately, and over many decades the stretch from the end of Campbellsville Street across, in the middle, or on the other side of the Russell Creek Bridge in the lower left of center in the photo, and the start of Campbellsville Road, a whole new modern shopping area has evolved, with a bowling center, medical centers, a huge farm supply center and essential offices for agriculture, destination restaurants, banking facilities, and much, much more. The view is worthy of a reverential visit to put growing town into perspective, even without a drone overflight. - EW Permalink | Comments?
