KSU catfish auction & survey team has arrived at FM2

From left, Richard Bryan, Market Researcher at Kentucky State University is in Columbia today with advising Wendy Heiatt, a KSU student conducting the study; and John Blythe, 19, and Caylie Stone, 16, survey assistants. They were setting up their booth before 8amCT, and will occupy a prominent spot on the main cross promenade in front of the Square Meals Cafe. Their store will be ready for the first customers by 9amCT, Heiatt said. With them are Dakota Rabb, a KSU student, and Heiatt's husband and children, Megan Almanza and Landon Hieatt. This is the first time in the world that a catfish marketing feasibility study by KSU has been conducted at a farmers market. Today, Heiatt said, catfish won't be served - but if all goes as well as she thinks it will, the survey team will be back in Columbia, may later in the season this year, and offer a catfish meal. Barbara Armitage, FM2 Market Coordinator, was really happy - "This is a big win for everybody. Local catfish lovers get a chance to buy fresh catfish,, the team is donating all the money from the sale of the catfish to FM2/Square Meals cafe, and we're part of a program which may see a thriving aquaculture program right here Adair County. We couldn't be happier." - EW. (Hurry on in; we don't have an amount of fish to be sold here today, but at 8:45amCT, the crew is already busy.)
