Campbellsville High School students recently learned about eggs and how to make omelets, from the Egg Lady herself. Cassinda Bechanan, promotions coordinator with the Kentucky Poultry Federation, known around the state as the "Egg Lady," came to Deanna Campbell’s classes recently to talk to students. Bechanan spoke to students about the composition of an egg and how important poultry is in Kentucky. Poultry, she said, is the No. 1 food commodity in Kentucky, and brings in more revenue than the horse industry. Bechanan taught students about the different grades of eggs and the nutrients found in them. She said eggs are affordable, easy to fix and a very versatile food. After learning about eggs, Bechanan showed students how to make an omelet and then let them make their own. Permalink | Comments?
