Adair County Historian Mike Watson has acquired two relics of antiquity, pews once used in the Tabor community church. He hasn't revealed what he plans to do with them but said is not planning to start a church. Though he was pleased with progress Fiscal Court made to restore the only major exterior repair needed, he wouldn't comment on Fiscal Court inaction, Tuesday, 11 Jul 2017, when the court totally ignored a major need, filling the seemingly eternally vacant Constitutional Office of Cemetery Commissioner, an office Mike Watson has long aspired to hold, and apparently has full support of a vast majority of Adair County History buffs and genealogist. Having an Adair County Cemetery Commissioner would propel the County to No. 1 among sister counties in the field - ahead of neighbors Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor - none of which have a Cemetery Commissioner. As for the pews - they might provide all the furnishings a Cemetery Commissioner's office would require. - EW
