Adair County Board of Education Chair Lisa Burton, third from right, had high praise for Dr. Pam Stephens, center, whose title was changed last night, Thursday, June 15, 2017, from "Interim Superintendent" to "Superintendent." Dr. Stephens took the helm of the still transformative Adair County School District at the first of January 2017, intending to stay only until a new superintendent could be named. The transition was so seamless, all board members agreed, when the four finalist recommended by the Superintendent Search Committee was given them, that Dr. Stephens should continue. She was given a four year contract last night. Board Chair Burton said that it was an easy choice, even though all of the finalists were highly capable, and would have been excellent superintendents. Dr. Stephens vision and style, her experience - 20 years as Superintendent - and her involvement in every aspect of the school and its many activities were just a few of her qualities which endeared her to the board.
