Scenic Russell Co., KY: A think cool photo from the Lake 2017-06-11 - Pleasant Hill Boat Ramp, Russell Springs, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com photo(c). When this photo was taken one week ago, it was long-sleeve and light jacket weather at Pleasant Hill Boat Ramp and heavy rains had the lake high up over the ramp, maybe 20 feet higher than normal according to local fishermen. With temperatures soaring to over 90 degrees F today, It is making a good screen saver to cool me down. It's like a Metcalfe County virtual air conditioner, invented by the legendary educator, James Ennis, who, in times of sweltering classroom conditions, when tell his students to "Think cold," as hundreds of his pupils will remember. He would tell sweaty students in the old highschool to just enjoy an imaginary trip to the North Pole or Alaska, or some other coldest place on earth.
