Honor guard commander, in back, is Ronnie Holt (US Army; flag bearers are, far left, Orvis Grider, and far right, Roy Kimbler (USN), and Curtis Hardwick (Army), Robin Woodrum (Air Force) , Arvis Stapp (Army), Allen Richardson (Army), Ron Burton (Army) , and Dickie Scholl (Army). Early plans had been for the occasion to be at the VFW's new post this year, but unavoidable construction delays have pushed back the move to the new post to a projected August 2017 opening, Post Commander Joe Hare said Sunday. As it turned out, the event gave another opportunity - this time almost a surety - that Sunday's service would be, indeed, the last time the occasion would ever be held at this site. - EW
