Wildflowers of KY: Bluets in profusion

Occasionally, along Adair County's many shady lanes, wild bluets can be seen in beds stretching dozens of yards, often two to five feet deep, and are by themselves reasons to take day trips and have dashboard picnics. Saturday, April 29, 2017 was one of those perfect days to do so and to enjoy the blessing of the bluets. But an even greater pleasure is in spotting the perfect natural setting of the flowers. The protective arch of the fern over a relatively tiny patch of bluets, above, was one of those special occasions, worth the set-aside 30 minute soul refresher afternoon. - LW/EW
