Adair Co. Fairgrounds Thu 3 Nov 2016: Main Grandstand is gone

2016-11-04 - Adair County Fairgrounds, 413 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c).
The Main Grandstand at the Adair County Fairground is now only a huge memory for the hundreds of thousands who will remember the structure as much larger than the small concrete pad remaining make it appear.. Only a small section of bleachers are left to be removed. Memories of fair food served from small white building left of the remaining stands will cause many to pause and remember the legends of the concession business whose great hamburgers and country ham was eagerly anticipated when fair time drew near. In the background is VFW Post 6097's hall, which, along with the out-of-frame monument, will be moved to new quarters in Green Hills. At this point, the Jaycees are still scrambling to find a place to stage the 2017 Adair County Fair. - Ed Waggener
