Harvest time in Adair County, KY: Silage

2016-09-04 - Farris Road, KY 633 & C.R. Jones Road, Coburg/Cane Valley, Adair County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener .
Harvest time is in full swing in Adair County, KY. And it's a reminder of how much the late Mayor Coy Downey enjoyed the season. He'd plan out-of-state trips just to observe harvest time: Peach picking time in the south, the beet harvest in Nebraska, and the corn harvests as they moved south to north. And a thought: With tourism such a large industry in Adair County and the State, and agri-tourism a growing component, wonder why more pull-offs on county and state highways aren't built to let this engine of economic development grow. Usually, to take in the scenery along this road, one can usually get a peak at what's going on at the Cowan Place above, but not as much as one would like to take in on a know-your-county better tour.
