Columbia/Adair Utilities District GM Lenny Stone diagrammed options available to solve problems with water pressure on KY 704/Fairplay Road, Columbia, KY. On a 5-1 vote, with a motion by Commissioner Mike Newton, with a second by Commissioner Barry Stotts to opt for a long range solution to water pressure problems on KY 704, dropping a proposal by Bell Engineering to build an Interconnector line from the Walmart Water Tower to the intersection of KY 704 & Hwy 55 South Road in favor a new 6" line from the Sparksville Water Tower to Chance to Fairplay Road. The latter proposal will satisfy water needs for the fast growing South Adair County area as well as for new chicken barns planned in the area. The cost was estimated at slightly over two times the temporary, so-called "band-aid" KY 704 Interconnector planned by Bell Engineering. Above studying the options as presented by GM Stone are, clockwise from right, Commissioners Newton, David Jones, Chairman Wid Harris, (Stone, standing), and Commissioner Barry Stotts. Commisioner Junior Brown, attending his first meeting as a member of the board, is out of frame. All the commissioners voted for the long range solution.
