Flags are flying in the spring breezes for Memorial Day weekend as we remember our fallen Veterans and their families who raised them and supported them and gave them back to God for our freedom much too young. It's a tradition that makes those Veterans in our family strong in our memories and warms our hearts. I know it's hard work to keep the flags in good condition and to unwind them when the wind whips them and winds them tightly around the flag poles, but still somehow it seems worth the city's investment to remind us all of why we honor those we remember. I just did a quick search on columbiamagazine.com on the word flag, and found some 200 items to revisit in the archives. We wish you good memories and a safe and happy holiday weekend! - LW
